Sex Trafficking Pop up [RED FLAGS]

Warning Signs of sex trafficked victims:

• Unexplained absence from class/overly tired in class
• Less appropriately dressed than before
• Sexualized behavior improper for age
• Brags about making/having a lot of money
• New displays of expensive clothes/accessories/shoes
• Talks about wild parties/invites other students to attend parties
• Significantly older boyfriend/girlfriend – for both girls and boys, all combinations
• New friends with a different lifestyle
• Appears withdrawn/depressed/distracted/‘checked out’
• Appears disheveled/takes less personal care/takes too much personal care
• Signs of trauma: physical/mental/emotional/disheveled
• Signs of physical abuse: burn marks/bruises/cuts/cutting
• Have new tattoos (a name, symbol of money, barcode) = Branded property
